1980 CANADIAN SUPERSTARS
With three-time defending champion Brian Budd forced into retirement, the fifth Canadian Superstars became a very competitive event. After the first day, Olympic speed skating medalist Gaetan Boucher had a lead of 28 points, with Baltimore Colt John Priestner in second with 21 points and hockey great Wayne Gretzky third with 19 points. All three, plus water skier George Athans had a chance to win entering the obstacle course. Boucher took the obstacle course in record time and captured the Canadian title.
